Bourbon Tasting Notes and Reviews
"Nose: Massive complexity with shades of unripe green bananas, sandalwood, malt, soft ground peppers and raisins. Even shades of applejack. Stunning. Taste: Bittersweet start. Enormous complexity from the off with creamy oils forming the backdrop to a bitter-vanilla middle. Sweet custardy notes are also about. Finish: Medium to long and quite dry. There is some toffee-fudge but this disappears to leave more vanilla and gently oak. Comments: A surprise package in that the nose suggests it to be sweeter and deeper than it actually is. Having said that, this is a superb Bourbon simply because each time you taste it, it registers a slightly different character."
Classic Bourbon, Tennessee & Rye Whiskey
"Nose: Rich and fruity with lots of berries and a hint of leather. Mouth: A huge body, soft and honeyed, a touch of vanilla, some butterscotch, lots of deep, dark fruits and still the whiskey's high notes shine through with the now familiar balance of leather and tobacco. The finish is very long, very warm and very soothing. Overall: This is a Bourbon worthy of a snifter and a fine cigar. The balance in this bottling is as perfect as any we tasted-it's a whiskey that shows off the whiskey-maker's craft. You might want to drink this whiskey on ice, but we suggest you don't adulterate it with anything more than the tiniest splash of water."
Co-authors, The Book of Bourbon
"Complex nose of leather and fruit, with tart up-front flavors of bitter orange that opens up to a caramel and apricot sweetness. Extremely long finish with tangy, mouth-watering freshness. Great all-around bourbon."
Cheers
"Soft and clean aromas with spice in the background. Gutsy, sweet and fruity with flavors of spice and deep oak; lingering finish with balanced sweetness."
